100 Federal St. Atrium and Cutting Edge Video Wall
BEDFORD, MA (January, 2018)- Turner Construction Company awarded State Electric the electrical contract for the construction of a new atrium and interior renovations to provide additional parking with car charging stations at 100 Federal Street in Boston’s Financial District. Our work on the project began in October 2016. Opening at the beginning of 2018, the street level “Winter Garden” glass atrium consists of 8,500 SF of retail space, 8,990 SF year-round garden, and 500 SF kiosk space. Project Managers Jim Ryan from our Commercial Division and Jim Fitzgerald from our Low Voltage Division, worked hand in hand throughout the construction process to deliver a seamless project for Boston Properties and Turner Construction.
The project started off by converting the below grade space into an additional floor of parking. This work was performed by our Commercial Division under the supervision of Foreman Mike Sawyer. What started out as a conversion of space to facilitate additional parking, State Electric’s contract grew substantially to include electrical renovations and upgrades throughout 100 Federal St. This is a testament to the professionalism and team attitude our management team and crews displayed throughout the entire process.
The main feature of the atrium is a cutting edge 36’ x 18’ video wall. State Electric’s Low Voltage Division installed the video wall in partnership with AVFX, an AV integrator. The video wall is a proprietary AVFX design which consists of a matrix of LED modules mounted to plywood backing. It was built under the supervision of Low Voltage General Foreman Scott MacPherson. This work was performed in the context of the larger Tel/Data and Security scope, being handled by a crew of technicians including Bill Larkin, Brian Richards, Ralph Crevier, Brian Scales, and Eileen Henry.
We would like to thank Turner Construction Company and Boston Properties for giving State Electric the opportunity to be part of the high profile project and we congratulate our managers and crews for a job well done.
