Connecticut Storm Restoration
BEDFORD, MA (May, 2018)- On May 15th, Connecticut was hit by a powerful storm that swept across the whole state putting 128,000 people without power. Eversource immediately called State Electric’s storm restoration crews, along with 1,000 others down to help with the power restoration efforts. On May 16th, our crews led by Jon Koning and Dennis Lindsay mobilized to the Danielson service center to help restore power. Then on May 17th, they were transferred to the Easthampton service center. During these two days, they worked tirelessly for 18hrs/day, helping to restore power to thousands of Connecticut residents.
The Newtown area was hit with some of the most devastating storms that included four tornadoes. After State Electric’s power restoration efforts were done in the Danielson area on May 17th, they were transferred to the Newtown service center on May 18th. Typically on storm, our crews are spread out over a large area. However, since the damage in the Newtown area was so severe in a condensed area, State Electric’s crews were able to work side by side effectively as a collective team. After working six days in a row out of the Newtown service center and eight days in total averaging 16hrs/day, Eversource sent our crews home.
Our number one priority is always safety and it was great all 24 guys returned home safely. State Electric and Eversource’s Connecticut customers would like to thank all of our crews for their hard work and dedication!
