Salem Harbor Power Plant
Awarded By: Iberdrola
BEDFORD, MA (September, 2017)- State Electric Corporation has been awarded electrical work at the new Salem Power Plant from Iberdrola a Spanish multinational utility company. The 674-megawatt natural gas-fired energy plant is located on 23 acres adjacent to the old Salem Harbor Generating Station. The new plant is scheduled to begin operation later this year providing electrical power to the New England area and support the introduction of renewable resources to the energy grid.
Project Manager Bobby Jones will lead our team, along with general foreman Anthony Lavecchia. Originally State Electric was brought in to terminate wires and cables but we have seen our scope expand in our short time there to include conduit work, installing heat trace, vibration switches and other electrical projects as they come up. To meet the needs of our increased scope of work, we have had to increase our crew size and expect to see more growth in both scope and crew sizes over the next several months so the plant can be ready. We do not have a firm project schedule yet, but hopefully, our involvement will continue to increase allowing the Salem Power Plant to start producing energy promptly.
