Owner: New Balance Development
Client: John Moriarty and Associates
Architect: Elkus Manfredi Architects
Engineer: WSP Flack + Kurtz

Project Summary

The new practice facility for the Boston Bruin’s is collectively 500,000 SF including an attached ten-story office building. The project scope entails the installation of all in-wall sleeving for tel/data and audio-visual networks as well as the required power connections for the ice management system. In addition, State Electric was in charge of the installation for the programmable fire alarm system, Lutron lighting dimming system, and all mechanical equipment connections. The seventeen-month project is scheduled to finish in October 2016.

Challenge

All electrical installations for the ice rink needed to be completed before starting other aspects of the facility along with a fast-tracked project schedule and many on-going design changes.

Response

State Electric created extensive project schedules to coordinate with John Moriarty Associates to keep both schedules on track. Using State Electric’s prefabrication facility, all racks and conduit bends were completed prior to them being installed. Also, by working closely with the lighting manufacturers, State Electric was able to have all lights completed weeks before installation so there were no delays.
