Project Summary

Teaming up with Black and Veatch for upgrading this existing substation. This project involves the installation of a new 23/115/345kV control building and a new system 1/system 2 control cable trench. In addition, 3-345kV gas insulated breakers were replaced and the overhaul for another 6, 18-345kV disconnect switches, and 12-115kV disconnect switches. This substation helps power the entire northeast region and is a three-year project scheduled to finish in June of 2017.

As a major junction point for transmission lines within the central MA area, it is essential that the planned cutovers and equipment upgrades are preplanned and scheduled as to not impact the critical infrastructure of the transmission system within the region.

State Electric hired a seasoned outage coordinator to organize an extensive outage coordination plan to accomplish the cutovers without interruptions to the area.
